Celebrating 27 Years of Learning, Caring, & Sharing!
DHCH is looking for homeschool families who want to get involved and make a difference! Service learning blends our parenting goals of developing Christ-like character in our children along with enriching their educational experience and expanding their real-world socialization opportunities. Over the years, some of our most memorable group projects have focused on helping others:
volunteering at Pioneer Living History Museum
cleaning up the Black Canyon City Memorial Cemetery
serving breakfast at a homeless shelter
packing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child
Community outreach can be an important part of a child's learning experience. Hands-on service is a means of developing practical skills as well as civic responsibility, teamwork, and values such as kindness, compassion, and respect. Even the youngest kids can serve with their families!
We are now cooperating with a nonprofit organization in Black Canyon City called High Desert Helpers, in order to participate in a larger team effort that has a positive impact on the community, while utilizing the High Desert Park facilities for homeschool activities and events. Volunteer participation with High Desert Helpers is a vital component of our community service efforts.
Please prayerfully consider where your family might be able to help. If you have a skill you'd like to share, just let us know, and we will work together to create a fun and educational experience for you and our members.
